The new firmware (Version 2.2.0) for the EOS R5 improves security feature by adding the ability to review the history of any changes made to the password, network information, or other settings. (A password must be set initially. It also makes the camera compatible with CFexpress cards up to 8TB, introduces a function that simultaneously protects images when they are rated, allows users to check for and download firmware updates when the camera is connected to the internet and adds support for the Software Development Assistance Kit (EDSDK/CCAPI). Other small fixes have also been introduced. Click here to access the download page on Canon’s local website.
Firmware Version 1.6.0 for the EOS R6 II applies some of the same changes as the R5’s firmware but adds improved AF tracking performance while zooming with the RF24-105mm f/2.8 L IS USM Z, RF70-200mm f/2.8 L IS USM Z and RF100-300mm f/2.8 L IS USM lenses when shooting stills.
